Vivaha Panchami, Ram Janki Vivah, Sita Ram Vivah, Vivah Panchami Festival
Vivah Panchami is an auspicious day, celebrating the marriage of Godess Sita and Lord Sri Rama. It is observed on the Sukla Paksha Panchami day in the hindu lunar month of Margashira. It is mainly Observed in Nepal and Northern parts of India. God Rama temples are decorated and Special pujas are performed on this day.
According to Ramayana this day has great significance. Sri rama is the incarnation of God Vishnu. On Vivah Panchami day, God Sri rama Visited the kingdom of Janaka (Birth place of Godess Sita), broke the bow and won the hand of Sita in Swayamvara.
Janakpur (Nepal), is believed to the birth place of Sita. Every year in Janakpur, idols of Ram and Sita are brought out in bright processions and their Hindu wedding ceremony is celebrated. Thousands of pilgrims from India and all over the world visit Janakpur during the Vivah Panchami festival week.
