The fourth day of the ten day festival of Onam is known as Visakam.

During the yester years Visakam was the day when the markets were opened for the harvest sale. Hence Visakam is considered one of the most auspicious days of Onam.

The preparation for the Onasadya of Thiruonam starts from this day. Women are busy preparing papads and pickle for the Thiruonam. The Pookalam grows bigger in size as more flowers are added to the design that was made during Chitira.

Competition of Pookalam are also organized and many participate in it. The place looks great with all the women dressed in traditional attire and participating in the competition.
