Ekadashi vrat is observed on the eleventh day of each lunar fortnight. Ekadashi Vrat is dedicated to God Vishnu. Ekadashi wich is observed on dark fortnight of hindu lunar month of Vaisakha is known as Varuthini Ekadashi. According to south indian amavasyant calenders it falls in the month of Chaitram. This year, Varuthini Ekadashi falls on Saturday, 22nd April 2017.
According to Bhavishya purana, God Srikrishna explained the importance of Varuthini Ekadashi to Yudhishtira. By observing Varuthini Ekadashi one can get fruits of a hundred kanyadaan. Also this ekadashi vrat frees devotees from all the sins previously commited.
