Seventh Day of Pitrupaksha, Seventh Day of Mahalaya Paksha, Seventh Day of Shraddha, Saptami Shraddha
Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Saptami of the lunar calendar or the Seventh day of the waning phase of the moon for the month of Bhadrapada as per the lunar calendar is observed as Saptami Shraddha. According to North Indian Purnimant Calenders, Saptami Shraddha falls in the month of Ashwin.
The seventh day of the sacred Mahalya Paksha which last for fifteen days is Saptami Shraddha. Tarpan and Pinda Daan for the ancestors who have died on Saptami Thiti irrespective of the paksha is performed on Saptami Shraddha. The Pinda are then either immersed in river or offered as food to Cow. Proper care should be taken that the lunch during the process of Shraddha should be done during the Aprahana Time of the day which would be around 1-2 PM.
