This the Ekadashi that comes on the Shravan sukla paksha Ekadashi, i.e the eleventh day of the waxing phase of the moon in the month of Shravana.
People without children believed that by observing the Putrada Ekadashi vrat on this day they would be blessed with a child. It is also called Pavitropana because it is believed that by observing the Putrada Ekadashi vrat one would be cleansed from all the sins he has made.
