Mukkoti Ekadasi is observed on eleventh day of the bright fortnight in the tamil month of Margazhi. This ekadasi is considered as most auspicious among all the ekadasi’s. Prime diety of this festival is Lord Vishnu. Mukkoti ekadasi is also known as Vaikunta Ekadasi and Swarga Vathil Ekadasi. This is also the important festival for the telugu and malayalam people. They observe mukkoti ekadasi in the Dhanurmasam (Dhanu month).
Fasting for the whole day, Keep vigil in the night, reciting lord vishnu prayers and Vikunta dwara darshanam are the important rituals of this day. Almost all the temples arrange this uttara Dwara or Vaikunta Dwara darshanam. As per the calender there is no mukkoti ekadasi during the year 2016.
