Moolam – Seventh day of Onam

What is Moolam ? , When is Moolam ? , Significance of Moolam.

The seventh day of Onam is known as Moolam.

With only 3 days left the festival fever is high in Kerala. People start with mini onam sadhyas called Ona sadya on this day. Cultural activities are also initiated and Moolam is the day when the celebrations are started officially by the Government. The celebrations are initiated with illuminating the cities like Thiruvanthapuram, Kozhikode etc and fire works.

The cultural activities involve the Puli Kali dance which mean Tiger dance, Kaikotti Kali are performed on Moolam day.

The Pookalam is further enhanced from the design on Thriketa day.
