Margashira masam is the ninth month in Hindu lunar calendar. Prime deity of this month is Lord Krishna. This month is named according to margashira Nakshatra. Mrugashira Naksatra persists during the purima tithi of this month. Goddess Lakshmi is also worshiped during the Thursdays of this month. This month is also known as Margazhi, Magsar, Margalis Agahan and Agrahayan in other parts of India. River bath is considered auspicious during this month.
