Mahesh Navami festival is celebrated on ninth (Navami) day of Shukla paksha in the hindu lunar month of jyesta. Today is the birthday of Maheshwari community. This festival is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Godess Parvati. Religious and cultural events are performed on this day.

The birth of the Maheshwari community is believed to be the gift of the Lord Shiva. According to a belief, the ancestors of Maheswari community are Kshatriyas. In the event of a hunt, they got cursed by muni. On the day of Mahesh Navami, Lord Shiva has been liberated them from that curse. Since then, they have become a Maheswari community and have left Kshatriya Karma and taken up business activities.
