Kamala Ekadashi is the ekadashi, that falls on Adhik Masa or Extra month in a traditional Hindu Lunar Calendar. Ekadashi vrat is mentioned in Padma Purana and Skanda Purana. Fasting on Ekadashi is considered highly auspicious and is believed to help in redemption of sins and in attaining Moksha.
The Adhik Masam is also called as Purushottam Masam and is dedicated to God Krishna.This year the Adhik Maas is the Adhik Bhadrapada Masam. All the general rules associated with Ekadasi fasting are also applied for this Adhika ekadashi day. In 2012, Kamala Ekadashi Date is 12th September.
