Kaal Bhairavashtami Vrat Vidhan, How to observe Maha Kalashtami?, Kala Bhairav Jayanti Pooja Vidhanam, Bhairava Ashtami Pooja Vidhi, kala Bhairava Jayanti celebrations
Maha kaal ashtami or Kala Bhairav Jayanti Observed on the eighth day of the waning moon period in the month of Margashira. Kala Bhairava is the incarnation of God Shiva.
People worship Lord kaal Bhairav with proper rituals and full faith. Shiva devotees take morning bath and perform pujas and take resolution for the fast. Special pujas are also offered to dead ancestors in the morning.
Bhairavah poornaroopo hi-shankarasya paraatmanah|
Moodhastam vai na jaananti mohitaashishavamaayayaa||
People vist kala Bhirava temples, recite “Om Bhairavay namah|“, and perform Shodashopachar puja.
The God Kala Bhairava’s vehicle is dog and people feed dogs on this day. In the evening after finishing the fast, people perform God Shiva awakening at the temple or near by statue.
Maargsheershasitaashtamyaam kaalbhairavasannidhau|
Uposhya jaagaram kurvan sarvapaapai pramuchyate||
After worshiping the Kaal Bhairava, people offer water to him with following mantra:
Bhairavardhya grihanesh bheemroopaavyayaanagh|
Aneenaardhyapradanen tushto bhav shivapriyaa||
Sahastraakshishirobaaho sahastrachranajar|
Grihanaardhyam Bhairavedam spushyam parmeshvar||
Pushpanjalim grihanesh vardo bhava bhirava|
Purardhya grihanedam sapushyapam yaatnaapah||
People keep vigil at night and narrate stories of God Shiva and Parvathi. Bhajans and kirtans should also be performed.
