Gangireddu
Gangireddu – the majestic bull is an important feature of the the Sankranti festival. The Gangireddu is one of the oldest ritual that has survived through times.
Gangireddu is a bull which is decorated with colorful clothes and bells. It moves from one house to the another with his master. His master plays ‘Nadaswaram’ and it dances according to it. Gangireddu is offered money, clothes and grains in return to its performance.
Every year, Gangireddu comes a month before Sankranti and exhibit the skills of dancing to the music, kneeling down, bows and nodding its head. Moreover it brings the Sankranti festive spirit.
