Amavasya Shraddha day is also known as Mahalaya Amavasya and Sarva Pitru Amavasya. This day is considered as Significant among the Shraddha Paksha days (fifteen days of Shraddha). This day tarpanam and Shraddha rituals can be performed to dead ancestors irrespective of the tithi. it is widely believed that whatever we donate in the name of our ancestors on this day is received by them.
Amavasya Shraddha is observed in the month of Bhadra (Bhadrapada) in amavasyant calenders and in the month of Ashwin according to purnimant calenders. This year, Amavasya Shraddha falls on Monday, 12th October 2015.
