Aashad masam is generally considered as shunya masam and dedicated to Lord Vamana. This is fourth month in the hindu lunar calender. Jagannatha Ratha yatra, Deva Shayani Ekadashi and Guru Purnima are the major festivals during this month.
Aashad Masam dates are different for purnimant and amavasyant calenders. In purnimant calenders, Aashada masam starts on 29th June 2018 and ends on 28th July 2018. In amavasyant calenders, Aashada masam falls between 13th July 2018 and 12th August 2017.
Aashada month marks the begining of Dakshinayana kaalam. Chaturmasya vrat is also started during this month.donating chappals, umbrellas, salt and amla are considered auspicious during this month.
