Vishvakarman Puja, Visvakarma Day, Bishwakarma puja, What is Vishwakarma Festival?
Vishwakarma puja is done on Kanya Sankranti day before Ganesh Chaturthi. It is believed that it was on this day the plough was invented and gifted to man kind by Vishwakarma. In some places Vishwakarma puja is done on Rishi Panchami also and in few places the day after the Diwali or the first day of the Karthik month.
Vishwakarma is known as the God of Architecture and designing. Vishwakarma is the architect for Gods. Vishwakarma is the one responsible for building of all the palaces of Gods. Vishwakarma is also known for his great designs. Vishwakarma is the one who built the Lanka of Ravana which is also known as the golden city.
Vishwakarma Puja is performed mostly in factories and workshops. Factories and workshops are cleaned and decorated for Vishwakarma Puja. Lord Vishwakarma is worshipped on this day. Sweets are offered to Lord Vishwakarma and distributed among the workers. In some parts kite flying is also a common ritual.
