Bhogi Pandlu is one of the important ritual to be performed on the day of Bhogi. A few people perform it on sankranti day also. This is performed to bless children with abundance in their lives and protect them from the evil forces.
On the evening of the Bhogi festival day, this ritual is celebrated for the children. They are all dressed up in new clothes. They are given Aarti and then showered with the Bhogi Pandlu.
Bhogi pandlu is a mixture of Zyziphus and other fruits, floral petals, Sugarcane, rice and coins. Sankranti is a Harvest festival. People believe that Showering sugarcane and rice from the first harvest brings good frotune to the children.
