Malayalam New Year, Vishu, Vishu Date, Vishu 2016, When is Vishu in 2016?, Vishu Hindu Festival, 14th April 2016
Vishu is the New Year’s Day for the people of the south western region of India. “Vishu” in Sanskrit means “equal”. It falls almost on a same day every year because the malayalam calendar is a solar calendar.
Vishu coincides with the Mesha (Meda) sankranti and Tamil new year Varusha pirappu or Puthandu. Vishu is celebrated with much fanfare and vigor in all parts of Kerala and Tulunadu. Vishukkani and fairs are main attractions of this festival. This year Vishu is on Thursday, 14th April 2016.
