Undrallu is a very popular Indian Recipe and Naivedaym for God Vinayaka on the occasion of Vinayaka Chavithi. Vinayka like this dish very much. By most people, the celebration of Vinayaka Chavithi is considered incomplete with out offering Kudumulu and Undrallu to the Lord.
Ingredients – Undrallu:
Rice Ravva or Cracked Rice (Biyyapu Ravva): 2 cups
Water : 4 cups
Chana Dal (Sanaga Pappu): 1/4 cup
Cumin Seeds (Jeera) : 1/2 table spoon
Ghee/oil : 1 table spoon
Salt sufficient for taste
Undrallu Preparation Method:
1.The Chana Dal or Sangapappu has to be soaked for 30minutes. The soaked Dal is kept aside for further use.
2.Take a heavy bottomed vessel and heat the Ghee or oil in it.
3.Add Cumin Seeds to the oil and fry them.
4. After that add soaked Chana Dal or Sanaga Pappu to it and fry for around half a minute to one minute.
5.Add water to this along with salt. Let the water boil.
6.Pour the Rice Ravva or Biyyapu ravva in it. While pouring the Rice Ravva keep stirring and see that all the things in the vessel are completely mixed.
7.Keep a lid on top of the vessel and let all of them cook until the Rice Ravva is completely cooked(approx 15-20 min) in low flame.
8.Let the cooked stuff cool for some time.
9.Then make the cooked meal into small balls.
Undrallu are ready. At few places these small balls are steam cooked for 10 more minutes.
