Shravana maasam has a lot of significance in Hindu philosophy and is the fifth month in the hindu lunar calender. Purnima (Full Moon day) during Shravana masam is known as Shravana Purnima, during this day moon comes nearer to the constellation of Shravana star and hence this month is known as Sravana.
Purnimant calenders are fallowed in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh and Bihar. Here Shravana Masam starts on 10th July 2017 and ends on 8th August 2017. Kamika Ekadashi, Shravana Somavar vrat, Mangala Gauri vrat, Varalakshmi vrat, hariyali teej, Naga panchami, Putrada Ekadashi, Raksha Bandan, Kajari teej and Srikrishna Janmashtami are the major festivals during this month.

Prime Deity of Shravana month is Lord Vishnu. Eka Bhuktha and Naktha Vratha are considered auspicious during the Shravana Month. Donating vegetables are prescribed on shukla paksha dwadshi of this month.
