Tenth Day of Pitrupaksha, Tenth Day of Mahalaya Paksha, Tenth Day of Shraddha, Dashami Shraddha
Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Dashami or the Seventh day of the waning phase of the moon for the month of Bhadrapada as per the lunar calendar is the day on which Saptami Shraddha is observed. According to North Indian Purnimant Calenders, Dashami Shraddha falls in the month of Ashwin.
Dashami means tenth and hence the tenth day of the sacred Mahalya Paksha which last for fifteen days is Dashami Shraddha. Tarpan and Pinda Daan for the ancestors who have died on Dashami thiti is performed on Dashami Shraddha. The paksha in which the ancestors have died is of no importance during the Mahalaya Paksha and the main importance is for the Thithi. The Pinda are either immersed in river or fed as food to Cow.
Proper care should be taken that the lunch during the process of Shraddha should be happen during the Aprahana Time of the day which would be around 1-2 PM. Performing of Shraddha would please the ancestors who will bless us with wealth and prosperity.
