Vivah Panchami is a festival celebrated to commemorate the marriage of Lord Ram and Sita. On this day Sitarama Vivaha is celebrated. Vivah Panchami is observed on Shukla paksha panchami day of the margashira month. It is one of the major festivals in the Mithilanchal region. This year, Vivah Panchami is on Saturday, 7th December 2013.
As per epic Ramayana, God Sri Ram visited kingdom of Janaka, Broke Sacred bow and married Godess Sita on the Vivah Panchami Day. Jankakpur (Nepal) is believed to be the Kingdom of Janaka. One Vivah panchami day, idols taken our for procession. Thousands of tourists visit this place and worship Sita and Ram during this time.
