Vivah Panchami is a marriage anniversary of Bhagavan Sri Ram and Goddess Sita. It is an auspicious day for the Hindus. It is observed on the fifth day of the waxing moon phase of moon in the Margashira month. Generally it falls in the month of November – December. This year Vivah panchami is on Monday, 17th December, 2012.
Vivah Panchami is of great significance at the famous Janaki Mandir of Janakpur in Nepal. Jankakpur is believed to be the birth place of Goddess Sita. Week long mela is celebrated here. Thousands of Devotees gathered here from all over the world. After procession of the idols, wedding rituals are enacted.
