Varuthini Ekadashi fast is considered as sacred and one who observes it, will obtain happiness, good fortune and salvation. This ekadashi is dedicated to Vamana, fifth incarnation of Lord Vishnu. According to Bhavishya purana, Lord krishna narrated about this ekadashi vrat to king Yudhishtira.
Varuthini Ekadashi is also known as Baruthani Ekadashi and Varudhini Ekadashi. Usually it falls in the month of April / May. According to lunar calender, it is observed on the 11th day of the waning moon period in the month of Vaishakha (Purnimant) / Chaitra (amavasyant). This year Varuthini Ekadashi is observed on Saturday, 4th May 2024.
