According to Hindu lunar calender, Full moon day is known as Purnima or Pournami. Purnima in the month of Vaishakh is called as Vaishakh purnima. Fasting is observed on this day as Purnima Vrat. Vaishakh purnima is observed as Kurma Jayanti. God Vishnu is worshiped on this day as kurma Avatar. It is believed that, a person who takes early bath and performs homas, rituals, fasts to worship Lord Vishnu is immensely blessed. This year, Vaishakh purnima is on Saturday, 19th May 2046.
