Falguna or Phalguna Bahula Ashtami or Phalguna Krishna Paksha Ashtami is celebrated as Sheetala Ashtami. Sheetala Ashtami is celebrated on 3rd April 2013.
The normal procedure of puja on Sheetala Ashtami, involves worshipping the Sheetala Devi. Sheetala Devi is the Goddess of small pox who is always accompanied by Jwarasura. Devotees do not cook food in the house i.e. devotees are prohibited to lit the stoves and hence should not cook. Food is cooked the before day and eaten on Sheetala Ashtami.
Sheetala Ashtami is famous in North India.In some parts of the country Sheetala Devi is also known as Ola Devi Goddess of Cholera.
