Shani Jayanti is the birth anniversary of Lord shani. Shani is the son of Surya deva (Sun God) and Chaya (Shadow). Every year, It is observed on the amavasya (new moon) day in the hindu lunar month of Jyesta. Though it is the same day, it falls in the Vaishakha month in Amavasyant calenders.
