Sankashti Chaturthi Vrat falls every month on the Fourth day of the waning moon phase. Devotees of Lord Ganesha consider this day to be auspicious and sacred. Sankashti Chaturthi is believed to be a favorite day of Lord Ganesha. During this month Sankashti Chaturthi is coming twice i.e on Friday, 01st March 2013. and Saturday, 30th March 2013.
Devotees observe a fast on Sankashti Chaturthi day and eat in the night only after they see the moon. Lord Ganesh puja is performed before eating and whatever food is offered as Naivedyam to Lord Ganesha is taken as dinner. Devotees read the Sankata hara chaturthi Vrat Katha after the puja. Many devotees would visit the temple of Lord Ganesha and worship him.
