Ashwayuja sukla paksha Ekadashi or the eleventh day of the waxing phase of the moon of the month of Ashwayuja or the is observed as Papankusha Ekadashi. The 25th October 2012, Thursday , is the date of Papankusha Ekadashi in the month of October.

On Papankusha Ekadashi Lord Vishnu has to be worshiped in the form of Padmanabha. Devotees of Lord Vishnu observe the Ekadshi Vrat to please Lord Vishnu on Papankusha Ekadashi. Ekadashi is a favorite day for Lord Vishnu. Devotees would hence considered Ekadashi to be auspicious and sacred.

The Ekadashi Vrat Vidhanam is to observe a fast on the day of Ekadashi by not even drinking water. Devotee should keep a vigil during the night of Ekadashi by chanting the names of Lord Vishnu or reciting the slokas pertaining to Lord Vishnu. Devotee should eat food only on the next day i.e. on Dwadashi before the Dwadashi time finishes. Devotees should feed a Brahmin before they eat. Feeding a Brahmin is left to ones choice and not a mandatory.

Observing the Papankusha Ekadashi would help one to get rid of the sins and would get the blessings of Lord Vishnu.
Ekadashi Vrat Katha is read by some devotees of Lord Vishnu.

Papankusha Ekadashi is also known as Pasankusha Ekadashi.
