Pandu Osha (ପଣ୍ଡୁ ଓଷା) is Odiya festival dedicated to Yudhistira, the eldest of the Pandava brothers. Some people believe that, this is dedicated to Pandumaharaj the father of Pandavas. Women worship Yamraj on this day for well being of their sons. This festival falls on the purnima in the hindu lunar month of Margashirsha. This year, Padu Osha is on Tuesday, 17th December 2013.
According to a Story, the King of Kalinga had no children and his luck changed after he and the queen observed the Pandu Osha. There is custom in orissa that, Girls clean the roads by using a special jhaadu in the early mornings throughout the Margasira month. This ritual ends on Pandu Purnima / Pandu Osha.
