Magh is the eleventh month in the Hindu lunar calendar. On this day, Moon is in Magh Nakshatra due to which it is known as Magh Purnima. Every year Magh mela is organized at Sangam in Allahabad during this time. Magh Purnima day is considered sacred for bathing. This year magha purnima is the last auspicous bathing day of the Maha Kumbh mela. God Vishnu is worshiped after the bath. Like all other purnima days, Satyanarayana Vratham is observed on this day. Devotees believe that reciting the Brahmavaivartha Purana is highly auspicious.
