Gangaur is a festival celebrated by women in northern parts of India. This festival is celebrated during each spring in honor of Godess Gauri or Parvati, the wife of Shiva. Gangaur/Gauripuja is observed for eighteen days during the purnimant month of chitra. It starts on first day of the chaitra month and ends on shukla paksha trutiya of the same month. Main celebrations also celebrated on this day. This year gangaur falls on Sunday, 22nd March 2015.
