Their is a popular legend about Ganga Saptami. Once River Ganga violently entered into Sage Jahnu Rishi’s place and disturbed his meditation. Sage Jahnu was overwhelmed by anger, drank Ganga and later released the Ganga through his ear. Ganga Dussehra is different from Ganga saptami and it is the day that Goddess Ganga descended on to the Earth.
