Diwali or Deepawali is celebrated on 3rd November 2013.

Diwali is a festival of victory of light over darkness. It is believed that demon Narkasura by Lord Sri Krishna. Diwali or Deepavali is a festival that comes on an Amavasya.

On Diwali or Deepavali puja of Goddess Laxmi is perfomed during or just after the Sun set. It is believed that by performing  pooja on  Diwali or Deepavali would ensure the blessings of Goddess Laxmi. It is a custom to lighten the house and surroundings with Deepa or Diya and burn fire crackers emitting different lights. Hence the festival is known as Deepavali or Diwali.
