What is Chitira ? , Significance of Chitira .
Chitira is the second day of Onam. There are no specific rituals on Chitira. People normally visit the temples offer prayers.
The Pookalam will grow in size on this day. The Pookalam is enhanced or the second layer of the Pookalam design is added to the one that was prepared on Atham.The normal colors that are used are orange and yellow. These are different from those used during the Atham.Chitira is also the day when people start cleaning their houses.
