Bhogi Mantalu
Bhogi mantalu is the major ritual observed on the Bhogi festival day. this ritual is observed on the first day of the Sankranti festival. Every one wakes up early in the morning lit bonfires (Bhogi Mantalu) on the streets. Cow dung cakes and all the old and unwanted items are thrown into the fire. people dance around this fire, sing songs in praise of the gods, harvest and the spring.
Before a day before bhogi, all people clean their homes, and collect all unwanted goods. People also collect all agricultural waste that used in Bhogi bonfire. This is a sort of cleansing ceremony. This bonfire also keep people warm during the last lap of winter.
