Bhogi 2019 Date
Bhogi is the first day of the three day celebration of Sankranti in Andhra Pradesh. Bhogi will be celebrated on Monday, 14th January, 2019.
On Bhogi, people would lit fire in the early hours of the Bhogi day using old wooden furniture or items. All the people come together around the fire and enjoy the warmth of the fire in the cold weather during Bhogi. Big Rangolis are drawn in front of houses to welcome goddess Lakshmi. Also Gobbemalu, made out of cowdung would be placed in the middle of the Rangoli and worshipped. On the evening of Bhogi, it is a ritual to pour bear fruits or Regi Pallu on children to keep them away of evil. Normally son in laws are invited as a part of the tradition. On Bhogi kite flying starts.
