Bhadrapada Masam is the sixth month among the Hindu lunar months. This month is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Full moon day of this month is known as Bhadrapada Purnima.
There are two types of lunar months which are used in India. The one type of lunar month (Amavasyant) ends on new moon day and the other type of lunar month (Purnimant) ends on full moon day. This year, Purnimant Bhadrapada Masam Starts on 19th August 2016 and ends on 17th September 2016, Amavasyant Bhadrapada masam starts on 2nd September 2016 and ends on 1st October 2016.
The famous Swarna Gouri Vratha is observed during this Bhadrapada month. Ganesh Chaturthi, Rishi Panchami, Radha Ashtami, Parsva Ekadashi are the major festivals during this month. Donating Kheer, Jaggery, food and salt are considered auspicious during this month.
