Ashwiyuja Masam is the seventh month among the Hindu lunar months. This month is glorified as “ESHA” in Vedas. Full moon day of this month is known as Ashwayuja Purnima. Kojagiri Purnima, Shard Purnima and Satyanarayana vrat are observed on this day.
There are two types of lunar months which are used in India. The one type of lunar month (Amavasyant) ends on new moon day and the other type of lunar month (Purnimant) ends on full moon day. This year, Purnimant Ashwin Masam Starts on 7th September 2017 and ends on 6th October 2017, Amavasyant Ashwin masam starts on 21st September 2017 and ends on 20th October 2017.
The famous Astalakshmi vratham is observed during this Ashwin month. Shardiya Navratri, Saraswati Avahan, Saraswati Puja, Durga Ashtami, Maha Navami, Dussehra, and Papankusha Ekadashi are the major festivals during this month.
