Angaraki Chaturthi Vrat Katha, Legend of Angarika Chaturthi, Story of Angarika Chaturthi

Angarika means Planet Mars and Angarika Chaturthi is related to Mars. An  According to Hindu mythology, Angarak was the son of Bharadwaj Rishi and Mother Earth. Bharadwaj Rishi was a great devotee of Lord Ganesha. Angarika learned everything from his father and made tapasya for God Ganesha to seek his blessings.

On the day of Krishna Paksha Chaturthi of Magh Month (the day was Tuesday), Lord Ganesha blessed him  to ask for a wish. Angarak asked him that he wants to be associated with Lord Ganesha’s name for forever. Lord Ganesha granted his wish. Then onwards Sankashti on tuesday is known as “Angarika Chaturthi” or “Angarika Ganesh Chaturthi”. Thus Angarak name associated with God Ganesha.
