What is Adhika Masa , Significance of Adika Masa , When is Adhika Masa ?
The meaning of Adhika is excess or extra. Masa is nothing but month. Therefore an Adhika Masa is nothing but an extra month. Adhika Masa month comes once in 32 months as per the Telugu Calendar. There are 354 days in a Telugu Calendar as compared to that of the 365 days. Hence to compensate for the remaining days the concept of Adhika Masa is there. Therefore once in every 32 -35 months there will be a Adhika Masa.
Adhika Masa is one of the favorite of Lord Vishnu. The Ekadashi of this Adhika Masa is known as Padmini Ekadashi. Observing the Padmini Ekadashi Vrat would fetch immense results.
