Aashad Masam is the fourth month among the Hindu lunar months. This month is dedicated to Lord Vamana. Aashada month marks the beginning of the Chaturmasa vrat. Full moon day of this month is known as Aashada Purnima. Maha Ashadhi and guru purnima are observed on this day.
There are two types of lunar months which are used in India. The one type of lunar month (Amavasyant) ends on new moon day and the other type of lunar month (Purnimant) ends on full moon day. This year, Purnimant Aashad Masam Starts on 21st June 2016 and ends on 20th July 2016, Amavasyant Aashad masam starts on 5th July 2016 and ends on 3rd August 2016.
